The Art Taws
Art & More Gallery · ART TAW collection · Cast, hand-painted · ~20 cm and ~40 cm
The Art Taws was designed as a collection for Art & More Gallery, not to order. Eight characters share the same round body, short arms and two short legs, each with its own personality — from the pirate to the heart-eyed one.
The characters were drawn and modelled on the computer, moulded, and cast in two series of about 20 and 40 cm; every piece was then painted by hand in the studio. The entire 20 cm series was acquired by our collector A*** U**. The 40 cm series was sold to different collectors, individually and in pairs.

The Pirate
It has no map, but its course is always clear.
If you set off with it, you can’t know where you will end up; but on the way back you will have a story to tell.

Sometimes; you understand the difference between looking and seeing when you crack its shell.
What I saw from the outside at first was nothing but a shell!
Inside there was a “Beast Art Taw”, I realised when I cracked it. :)

The Biker
The generalisation “Over the years, experience and the things lived make people steadily more serious and calm” does not apply to it.
One day it is in Istanbul; call it the next day and you can’t know whether it will answer from Mardin or from Amsterdam. If you know or meet someone who motivates you not just to “live the moment” but to truly build life out of enjoyable moments, find me. And let’s introduce them.
We may get tired keeping up, but you will never have enough of watching it or listening to it.

The Punk
If you are on its list of people to call in hard times and in happy moments; it means you live with a series of possibilities in which you don’t know where the day will end.
If you have an orderly life, and it is a colourful part of that whole you can’t give up, you may at least want to foresee the end of the day, even if you can’t change it.
The only way to do this is to know how it woke up in the morning and to analyse its tone of voice once during the day.
And even if you do all this, your chances of being wrong are still high.

The Starface
It comes from a different, entirely other culture I don’t know.
At first I tried to understand it with my own truths and habits. In the beginning, we both behaved as if having something in common were a condition.
I judged and I was judged.
Then one day I realised; we laugh the same way and we both cry “salty” tears at different pain thresholds. Even though our worries are different, our pupils widen the same way, we feel fear the same way. And when we feel love; even though we hold different hearts in our hands, we reach out to each other the same way... I learned from it: “Being similar, being compatible may be nice, but there is something even nicer.”
