About the work
Q was designed for the centre of the pool at the same house in Bodrum. When Zeynep Didem Bardakcı first saw the architectural project, a white, simple form gliding on the water came to mind.
Neither a realistic figure nor a wholly abstract mass would suit the place. Q is a swan reduced to its essence in the language of biomorphic abstraction. The house’s “less is more” sensibility shaped the work: a single uninterrupted line, one colour and a quiet dialogue with the water.
Working closely with the architecture office, the design decision was left to the artist; as the early curving sketches were simplified, the form found its own identity.
