About the work

The Lock was designed for Cetaş shop windows, for the “Bir Dilek Tut” (Make a Wish) collection built around the idea of lock and key. The starting point was the collection’s small pendant, the “Altın Dilek Kilidi” (Golden Wish Lock); the large lock was developed from its form.

The lock was first drawn, then 3D-printed so the print would match the drawing exactly. A mould was taken from the print, the pieces were cast from it in series for the windows, and the surface was finished in satin brass.

With its broad body, thick rings and the shield-shaped keyhole at its centre, it reinterprets the small pendant at the scale of a shop window. The first piece was shown at the collection's launch in 2020.
